5 Great Credit Repair Tips

Sometimes life happens and we find ourselves with a bankruptcy, a foreclosure or just a poor credit score. There are always things that you can do to boost your credit score though. Some are simple common sense things others you might need help from my credit repair expertise. Below though you will find some great tips!

Don’t Be Afraid to Dispute

Some people are afraid of conflict, while others think that there is simply no hope in disputing negative items because they are accurate or just not worth the effort. That is the biggest fallacy that I fight. Every negative item has an impact and should be challenged.  All Items should be disputed whether they are accurate or inaccurate, no matter how big or small.  Try to get them removed and the older they are the easier it is so remember it is always worth a shot.

A Long Credit History Is Important

It’s important to have as long a history of credit as possible, this is a big factor in calculating your credit score.  Don’t go cancel cards just because they are old or you don’t use them anymore. It is also important to use them every once in awhil.

Don’t Use Credit Just Because It’s Available

Just because you have it does not mean that you have to use it. One of the main things that goes into the calculation of your credit score is the amount of available credit you are using. This amount should never go over 30% of available credit to maintain the best credit score possible.

Get Secured Credit if Necessary

If you are trying to rebuild your credit but you are unable to get a credit card due to your low score, then you may be able to get a secured credit card in order to start the process. They function a lot like debit cards, or prepaid calling cards. You simply deposit a certain amount of money on the card, then spend it as you please. You can find a good secured credit card here.

Don’t Make Any More Mistakes

This should go without saying but it doesn’t hurt to see a reminder. The best way to get out of the hole is to quit digging. One of the most common mistakes that people make is being late on a payment. It’s not a bad idea to set up automatic payments for the minimum payment, which will ensure that you are never late. You can always come in and make a bigger payment at anytime. Mental errors can be costly, and this is a great way to prevent them!
